banner of love
I was watching Heidi Swapp's video this morning. She was showing some of her favorites from CHA. I was inspired by all the banners that decorated so many of the booths and I got working! I made this Valentine "Love" banner with a bunch of patterned papers, chipboard letters, glitter, glass beads, rhinestones and ribbon. I have it hanging in the opening between my kitchen and living room. I really like it!
A few close-ups...I apologize some are a little fuzzy...
Well...the day is panning out quieter than I anticipated but I'm liking it. Recovering from being sick earlier this week. Taking it easy. Now that I have my appetite back I want to make the brownies I was craving before I got sick! And I hope to do some more crafty stuff later.
Happy Saturday!

cabin fever
Here's a closeup...
It was nice staying in on New Year's Eve and Day but now I'm on day 2 of being home and I have major cabin fever. We are having a 2 day long snowstorm here in Massachusetts. Grrr. I was going to have friends over to scrap but now no-one can make it because of the weather. And Cary worked a 12-14 hour shift yesterday and today. So I'm home alone and going stir crazy! You would think with all these scrapbook and cardmaking supplies, internet, Wii, books to read....I wouldn't be bored. But I need some human contact!
Oh well. My focus for 2010 is ENJOY. So that is what I will try and do. I will leave you with another project I finished last night....a blue cable edged beret....
Happy Snow Day!

learning
Yesterday was a pajama day. But I did make it out to the gym. Spent the day teaching myself how to do Amigurumi. I have never crocheted...so it has been a learning experience! But being my perfectionist, overachieving Virgo self I was determined to get it right!
I now have the head, body, ears, arms and legs for a bear. Doesn't look like much! He's a little wonky and crooked. He's not perfect but it's pretty cute so far. Before working on him I had been working on a shawl I've been making but was getting extremely frustrated with it...yarn overs in the wrong places...mistakes I need help fixing. I wanted to throw that off the balcony. So the fact that I have a bunch of misc bear parts is exciting!
Tuesday I also finished up my first Christmas present...it will be for my sister (she doesn't read my blog)... the pattern is "Foliage" on Ravelry. My first finished lace project aside from a dishcloth. Ripped it back several times but finally got the hang of it.

Well...I'm off to meet my mother, brother and sister for lunch and to buy some stuffing for my bear :)
Also hoping to get some scrapping inspiration back. Haven't done any in awhile!
Happy Thursday!

ornament
An ornament idea I pulled out of an old magazine...lots of beads, glitter, tiny marbles attached with regular-old Elmer's near the ornament's hanger. Inside the clear, glass ball is a single white feather. This was my trial ornament. I plan on making a bunch for co-workers and family.
Here's a layout from my friend's Close to My Heart party on Saturday. I added some more details tonight at home...all stamp images are CTMH but I added a journaling card and sticker border. The blank space will eventually hold a photo(s). I'm not used to making a layout before I have the picture...I'm also not entirely thrilled with the layout but I think it will be easier to see it as finished with a photo or two.
Well off to relax a bit and watch 90210...
Happy Tuesday!

girl's night
Every month we do a Girl's Night and take turns hosting at our house. I love making invites when I host. Here's my invite....
I bought the DCWV card sets and stamped and clear embossed the bat stamp which was a bargain at $1 at Michael's!
I also made two more of these topiaries...(this one I made a few months ago)...
They are actually pens. The "stem" is a ballpoint pen and the cap is secured in foam in the ceramic pot base. I got the idea from my supervisor. I'm planning on trying to sell them at my table at the craft fair in a few weeks.
So....last night was Girl's Night at another friends and we had so much fun. But...just got an email from her titled "Urgent." She said her husband ate the dessert I brought and is having a reaction. Apparantly he's allergic to nuts. I didn't know that and feel awful. I didn't make the dessert so I can't be sure it has nuts but it might. I feel terrible. Oh brother....
