So I returned to work today after my vacation. My state of relaxation...lasted...about...15 minutes. Right back to the hectic pace. Oh well. I try very hard to leave work AT work. So I'll move on to other things....
When I got home I had a quick dinner with Cary and then headed to the apartment's "green" for an ice cream social. They arranged for the Ice Cream truck to stop there. I figured I'd have to pay but no! I got a free ice cream...which I plan to enjoy next. I didn't really do the "social" part. I always feel awkward during unstructured social things like that where I know NO one. I know that's the point but at the end of a long work day working with people and high stress it wasn't on my list of things to do!
Afterwards, feeling motivated, I headed to the apartment's mini-gym and did 1/2 hour on the treadmill, 15 minutes on the bike and a few reps on some of the nautilus machines (at least the ones I know how to use!) It feels good to get back into my exercise routine. Yesterday I got to run/walk with Cary and it felt good.
Speaking of yesterday...we went from this...
To this...
Painting by my great-grandfather of thier house in Essex, MA. Borrowed from my Dad
Huge drawing I did for my senior thesis in collage of an area near my Grammy's House - The "Mill"
One of several of Cary's historical prints. He loves history and had them framed up when he came home from Iraq years ago (before we met) and it's a long story but he is so glad to have them up!
We finally got some of our pictures hung up on the walls. Cary is happy about getting his up. He has most of the living room walls. I basically have everywhere else! He hasn't felt at home living in my apartment since last October because he didn't have any of his pictures up. So now we feel like we officially have OUR space. We don't have everything up yet (the bedroom walls are completely empty) but we got a start.
Well...off to read some blogs and enjoy my ICE CREAM!

Getting personal pictures and photos up in a new place is a great feeling :) And it definitely adds to that sense of "home" :) I hope you enjoyed your FREE ice cream!
